Bristol Hockey Club was established in 1922, and merged with The University of the West of England Hockey Club in 2001 to become Bristol-UWE Hockey Club. With the partnership now firmly established and really starting to bear fruit we are looking forward to this season and beyond.
Teams
We have 4 winter league teams that play in the West of England and South Wales Hockey League. Our 1XI, 2XI and 3XI won their divisions and were promoted at the end of last season, we are looking to build on that success this year. We also have a summer league team that plays in the Bristol Summer League.

Coaching
We welcome Turloch O'Siochain who joins us this season to lead our coaching team.
We are pleased to offer top quality coaching to members at all levels of the club, and will be looking to convert this to success on the pitch for all four teams this season.
We will be continuing to offer specialist goalkeeper coaching during the season to ensure those all important team memebers are not left out.
Facilities
Again this season Bristol-UWE Hockey Club is able to offer the best hockey facilities in Bristol. Outdoors the new international standard water based pitch has spectator seating, with changing facilities in the UWE Centre for Sport next door.
The Centre for Sport provides the perfect venue for indoor hockey, as well as much more for our members. It is a fully equipped sports centre with a gym, shop, squash courts and even a climbing wall. Discounted membership is available to members of Bristol-UWE HC.

Training
We train every Thursday evening from 8pm - 9.30pm at the UWE water based pitch on the Frenchay Campus. There will also be indoor training sessions throughout the season that everybody is welcome to attend.
Training for this season will start on 4th September until 11th December and start again on 8th January after Christmas.
New players are always welcome, so please feel free to turn up to training or contact us for more details.
Kit
We play in black. Black socks, black shorts, black shirts.
Shirts are available from the club.
Subscriptions
The subs for the 09/10 season are as follows:
- Full member £90
- Concession £50
Match fees are £9 per game (£5 concession).
We offer a special discount on subs to recent UWE graduates, so please get in touch with Colin Hickey or speak to your captain if you would like to take advantage of this.
Your subscription includes all training, insurance and post match teas. Membership of Bristol-UWE Hockey Club will entitle you to a discounted membership of the UWE gym and sports centre - please contact us for more information.
We can also subsidise members who would like to take part in coaching and umpiring courses.
